Copps Coliseum, Hamilton, Ontario: March 20, 1992

Another featured show from the upcoming 30 Trips Around the Sun box set to be released this fall. I have another show from Copps Coliseum from March 1990 in my collection, and I thought this was that show… Mixed up my dates, but it was quite serendipitous, for what I thought was a show I’d heard, enjoyed, and wanted to share with you turned out to be a totally different show from a couple years later that I hadn’t heard before. A shame I hadn’t, too, cause it’s outstanding. A high-energy Matrix mix combining the clean soundboard with a crackling crowd makes for a dazzling listen.

In this week’s installment of The Dead Zone on JEMP Radio, we sampled only the first set, but the rest of this show is terrific, as well. It also happened to be Bruce Hornsby’s last show as a regular member. Vince Welnick took over full time as the Dead’s keyboardist from here on in, although Bruce did join them many times hence on grand piano. Check out his piano lines on “Bird Song” during this killer show, and don’t miss the rest of the show, either. Stream it below.
